In the Jubilee Year 2025, our parish, as pilgrims of hope, decided to travel to the east of Slovakia to the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Spišská Nová Ves - west. The shrine is one of the jubilee temples in Slovakia with the opportunity to receive jubilee indulgences.
Upon arriving at the shrine, we were welcomed by Father Peter Klubert SAC, the superior of the Pallottines in Spišská Nová Ves. The rector of the Shrine of Divine Mercy informed us in a brief lecture about the conditions for obtaining jubilee indulgences. After the lecture, we had the opportunity to go to confession, read from the Holy Scriptures, pray the jubilee prayer under the jubilee cross, adore before the Eucharistic Christ present in the tabernacle of the church, and finally pray the prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father.
After these acts, each performed in silence, a holy mass followed, celebrated by Father Krzysztof Zontek SAC, with our parish priest Father Martin Uhrík concelebrating together with Father Piotr Lasota SAC, the jubilee preacher, who was appointed to this role along with Father Peter Klubert SAC by the diocesan bishop of the Spiš diocese, Mons. František Trstenský. Father Piotr explained to us in his sermon the symbolism of the jubilee cross, concluding with a true story from pediatric oncology.
After the holy mass, Father Peter Klubert SAC guided us through a unique gallery from the Vatican. It contains gifts from St. John Paul II that he received during his papal journeys around the world.
We concluded our pilgrimage with a communal meal, and on the way back, we greeted our Heavenly Mother, the Virgin Mary, with a communal prayer of the holy rosary.
This pilgrimage during the Lenten season not only enriched us with new experiences but mainly by accepting the invitation to it, we had the opportunity to receive complete indulgences, that is, the forgiveness of all our penalties for our sins.
